Al Baraka Bank Honours Mandela Day 2026 Through Community Service Across South Africa

In celebration of Nelson Mandela International Day 2026, Al Baraka Bank reaffirmed its
commitment to serving communities through a series of impactful initiatives across KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and the Western Cape.

Observed annually on 18 July, Nelson Mandela International Day is a global call to action
that encourages individuals and organisations to dedicate 67 minutes of service in honour
of the 67 years Nelson Mandela devoted to the fight for justice, equality and human dignity. This year's theme, "It's still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity,“ reminded
South Africans that meaningful change begins with collective action and compassion.

Through strategic partnerships with community organisations, Al Baraka Bank's Mandela
Day initiatives focused on addressing hunger, restoring dignity and supporting vulnerable
communities.

KwaZulu-Natal
In Durban, Al Baraka Bank partnered with weFEEDsa to support Sally's Soup Kitchen in
Welbedacht. The initiative extended beyond community feeding by upgrading the soup
kitchen to create a safer, more welcoming and sustainable environment for volunteers and
beneficiaries. The improvements will enhance the organisation's ability to continue serving
nutritious meals to residents long after Mandela Day has passed.

Gauteng
In Johannesburg, Al Baraka Bank partnered with Ashraful Aid at Wanderers Stadium,
where staff and volunteers came together to pack 100 food hampers for families in need.
The hampers were distributed to vulnerable households, helping to alleviate food insecurity
while demonstrating the power of collaboration in uplifting communities.

Western Cape
In Cape Town, Al Baraka Bank partnered with Fusion Inyameko to provide hygiene packs
and nutritious meals to the children of SOS Children's Village Thornton. The initiative
aimed to promote dignity, health and wellbeing while ensuring that children received both
practical essentials and the care that reflects Mandela's legacy of compassion.
